Dear brethren the love of God be with you:

Thanks for all your prayers and your participation in my work as a preacher.
As you know, I was invited to collaborate in Puerto Rico for the second time. My arriving to the island was good thanks to God; even though I was tired I arrived with a lot of encouragement last Saturday night to San Juan, where Ed Rangel and Carlos Moscoso received me. From the airport we traveled 2 hours through the Moca City, where the center of activities is going to be. There is where the mentioned brothers live and where the church was established last October. I felt the weather more pleasant than last time. Now there’s a fresh wind and it has been raining every day.
Sunday 10th, was a day of a great activity, since 7:00 am we traveled to San Juan to be with the church of Caparra where Tol Burk preaches, we congregated there. In this place two churches have their reunion: one is English language speaker and the other is Spanish language speaker. Each one of them has a service of two hours for bible study and worship service. The quantity of people in each group was of 15 and 20 people relatively. There is where I had the opportunity to preach and I exposed the subject: changing rules brings “success” where I emphasized the point of the appearance of success of the false preachers, and how they deal with subjects that the majority of people like, not by the way the bible says but by the way the people like, and that the success that they have is the perdition. The services in there ended at 1:30 pm.
From there we traveled back to Moca where the reunion was going to start at 4:00 arriving just in time to start the services of the church. This church from Moca is composed of 12 people and there are regularly three visitors having a total of fifteen souls. In this occasion it was notorious the absence of the majority of people because since one person came calling himself a brother in Christ started to have relationship with this church the love of the majority of people has changed. However we worship the lord in there also having the opportunity to expose two lectureships related with the spiritual encouragement and the warning about the false gospel.
On Monday 11th, we were waiting to receive brother Valente Rodriguez from Houston Texas, who was also invited to help in the work in Puerto Rico and specially to this debate of Ed and Marcelino.
Last Thursday , Ed Rangel had the opportunity to face this false brother. Marcelino Matias is his name he is the preacher from Aguada P.R. he has been working with just converted brethren from Moca, that have been paying attention to Matias because of their innocence. Matias teaches that women can and should preach and lead. Taking advantage of the innocence of the brethren, and the absence of Ed, since he was out preaching in a lectureship couple of months ago, Matias taught them that the women could preach in the church, a teaching that was good for the just converted since they were identified as charismatics in the past. Ed presented with efficacy the truth, denying that the women can and should preach and lead in the church. So Ed presented his negative answer and Marcelino presented his affirmation. (Even though Matias was the one who should started in the debate Ed exposed first)
We have been listening to the expositions of both to do well on the second debate that will be on May 14th in Aguada City.
We have been studying with the members that support Ed, affirming them in the truth about the debate’s topic, and we have been visiting to the other members that didn’t assist on Sunday and they have been bad influenced, without any good result.
Besides this second part of the debate, we will continue studying about the subject and we will try to “rescue” the mislead souls that follow Matias. For this we ask of your prayers. Brethren Rangel, Rodriguez and I will try to talk particularly with this false brother perhaps he will repent and God will forgive him.
In this part of my report, I will talk about the preparations for the second Thursday of the debate and of the debate itself.
Being careful, Ed, Valente and my self listen to the audios where Ed introduce the negation about women preaching in the assembly and the audio of Marcelino Matías where he affirms that the women should preach or teach in the assembly, both introduced on May 7, 2009. We analyzed the divine Scripture where it clearly talks about the prohibition, especially: 1Corinthians 14, 1Tim 2 and related Scriptures. We consider some advices and commentaries of brethren who have been interested in this debate and the book written by Matías call “Por Favor Quítenme La Mordaza” (Please Take the Muzzle from Me). After considering carefully needed all this material, the brother Ed prepared a second study enriched and guarantied even by its original meaning of the words: “man” and “woman”. We prepared 25 questions well analyzed and related with the exposition of Matías.
Thursday the 14th, we leaded our selves to the expected reunion, expecting that Marcelino to introduce the second part of his doctrine, and Ed his second part too y after this the time for the questions would come where Ed would start to ask and then Matías to answer them, but it did not happen like this. Marcelino started his second presentation according to the plan but he started with a discourse that had nothing to do with the point. He pinpointed to talk about his trajectory justifying him self as a leader of the Church of Christ (it was noticeable that he referred to the church not with the Biblical meaning, but denominational) Taking for it one hour and twenty minutes, alter talking about his life and his work in Puerto Rico he started talking about what was plan, in total it took two hours and twenty-one minutes at the end he said that the debate would continue next week.
Between this time used by Matías, the annoyance was noticeable between the majority of the audience, the moderator did not do nothing even after being ask.
When Matías was done Ed complained and the man just limited him self to say “this can be done for several Thursdays”.
Considering to what the plan dictated that it was only to be done in one day and having been flexible of accepting a second day to finish Ed did not accept another Thursday more. And like this the debate concluded.
Kindly Ed thank the audience, to Matías and emphasize the importance of studying the Word of God and how Matías after talking a lot he never introduced an example of a woman preaching or teaching in the assembly.
In the opinion of Valente Rodriguez and my self, Ed did an excellent job and leaves the Doors open for other posterior debate. In which he would make sure that the rules are being respected in a debate since in this debate Matías was not respecting them.
On Friday 15TH , We traveled two hours and a half through the southeast from Moca to go to Ponce. The brethren from Ponce were very kind and invited us to preach them of the word of God they have had a good relationship with Ed and they supported him with their presence in the debate. After the preaching we were talking with them about the truth that contrasts the false doctrine of Matias and we dismissed of them with a pleasure planning to get back the next Friday.
On Saturday 16TH, we concentrated to talk to the brethren from that were influenced by Matias with the purpose to help them to understand that this man is just looking for what he wants not for the will of God. In the afternoon we got together with the majority of these brethren they were with their mind opened to listen with a good attitude. The fruit was clear and they congregated with us in Moca, next Sunday; they were in the bible class and the sermon.
On Sunday 17TH, just as the last Sunday were very active we traveled for two hours through San Juan, to give the bible study and to preach. After four hours of service, we went back to Moca to be on time to the service there with pleasure we saw the brethren arriving to the service.
On Monday 18TH, I concentrated to edit and to put in order the audios of the debate and the exposition of Ed as well to have it managed to who might request it. Even though it can’t be published on the internet yet until the video and the refutation of Ed to the speech of Matias of may 14 is ready.
On Tuesday 19TH, we went with Ed to a market to request a permission to give away bibles and literature about the faith. The purpose was to invite to the people that come to this place, to visit the church or to have a house bible study. A thing that we were about to do the next days.
To make a work outside was shattered by a strong storm that was devastating since Tuesday night may 19th until Thursday 21st, even though of this we talked more about the word of God to the local brethren, to confirm and support their faith. This day our brother in Christ Valente would go back to Houston, we traveled to San Juan even though of the rain, to take him to the air port, in the moment of departure we prayed for the brother in his travel and we dismissed.
On Friday 22nd it was a day of great activity the brethren from Moca requested a bible study about Romans 11, which I give with a hurry since we didn’t have enough time because of another invitation that we had from the brethren from Ponce, brethren from Ponce invited us to preach in Luis Lugo’s house, the time permitted us to travel to Ponce, to be with the brethren and neighbors from that place preaching them about the gospel of God. We dismissed from them with a great taste as we saw their great encouragement and their good relationship with the church from Moca.
On Saturday 23rd is the day of my return to Indianapolis, glad to have helped in this place where are a lot of small groups interested in the work of God, but a few laborers.
This visit to Puerto Rico was more characterized as a support and confirmation.
The brothers Moscoso, Edward, the brothers from San Juan, and the brothers from Ponce were encouraged by our visit and the people that are around these brethren could hear the gospel.
Thanks to God we could see good results: the word of God exposed with courage by Ed, could be repeated by us to all of those that were interested to hear our point of view. We helped in the concerned to the debate, which will be published in a near day, if God wills. At least 6 bothers that were undecided by the false doctrine, are now convinced to continue forward in the truth and helping in Moca, they are: Ruben, Maribel, Dariel, Karina, Jesus and Mirta.
I won’t lose my hope to go back, and work again with these brethren.

EN ESPAÑOL MAYO 15-22, 2009

Amados hermanos:
Mayo 15 -22, 2009

Viajamos dos horas y media hacia el Sureste de Moca para dirigirnos a Ponce. Los hermanos de Ponce fueron muy amables de invitarnos a predicarles la palabra de Dios el día viernes 15 de Mayo, ellos han tenido una buena relación con Ed y lo apoyaron con su presencia en el debate. Después de predicarles estuvimos hablando con ellos acerca de la verdad que contrasta la doctrina falsa de Matías y nos despedimos con gusto de ellos quedando de volver el próximo viernes.

El sábado 16 nos concentramos a tratar de hablar con hermanos de Moca influenciados por Matías con el propósito de ayudarles a entender que este hombre solo busca lo suyo propio y no la voluntad de Dios. En la tarde pudimos juntarnos con la mayoría de ellos y estuvieron muy abiertos a escuchar con una buena actitud. El fruto fue claro ya que el Domingo se reunieron con nosotros en Moca; estuvieron, en la clase y en el sermón.

El domingo igual que el anterior fue muy activo ya que de nuevo viajamos dos horas hacia San Juan, para dar clase y predicar ahí. Después de cuatro horas de servicio, salimos de regreso a Moca para llegar a tiempo de la reunión Con alegría vimos como fueron llegando los hermanos a los servicios establecidos.

El Lunes me concentre en editar y poner en orden los audios del debate así como la exposición de Ed para tenerla al alcance de quien la solicite aunque no se puede publicar todavía en el Internet hasta que no este listo el video y una refutación de Ed al discurso de Matías el día 14.

El martes acompañamos al hermano Ed a un mercado para solicitar permiso de regalar Biblias y literatura concerniente a la fe. El propósito era invitar a las personas qué van a ese lugar tan concurrido, a visitar la iglesia o a tener un estudio Bíblico en casa. Cosa que haríamos en los siguientes días.

El hacer trabajo en publico fue truncado por una fuerte tormenta que estuvo azotando desde el martes 19 en la noche hasta el Jueves 21, sin embargo pudimos hablar mas de la Sagradas Escrituras con los hermanos locales, para confirmar y apoyar su fe. Este dia, nuestro hermano Valente regresaría a Houston, viajamos a San Juan a pesar de la lluvia, para llevarlo al aeropuerto, llegado el momento de partir nos despedimos después de agradecer a Dios y encomendar a nuestro hermano.

El viernes 22 fue de gran actividad los hermanos de Moca solicitaron un estudio de Romanos 11, el cual pude dar con cierta prisa ya que el tiempo no alcanzaba, los hermanos de Ponce nos invitaron a predicar en la casa del hermano Luis Lugo, el tiempo nos permitió viajar de nuevo a Ponce, estar con los hermanos y vecinos del lugar predicándoles acerca del evangelio de nuestro Señor. nos despedimos de ellos con un grato sabor de boca al ver que el animo de ellos es grande y que la relación con la iglesia de Moca es muy buena.

El sábado 23 es el día de mi regreso a Indianápolis, gustoso de haber ayudado en este lugar donde hay tantos pequeños grupos interesados en la obra de Dios, pero tan pocos obreros.

Esta visita a Puerto Rico se caracterizó más que nada como de apoyo y confirmación. Los hermanos Moscoso, Edward, los hermanos en San Juan y los hermanos de Ponce fueron animados por nuestra visita. Las personas que rodean a estos hermanos pudieron escuchar el evangelio.
Gracias a Dios pudimos ver buenos resultados: La palabra de Dios expuesta con valor por Ed., pudo ser repetida por nosotros por todos aquellos que se interesaron en escuchar nuestro punto de vista. Ayudamos en lo concerniente al debate, el cual se publicará en un día cercano, primero Dios. Al menos 6 hermanos que estaban tambaleándose por la falsa doctrina, ahora están convencidos de seguir adelante y ayudando en Moca, ellos son: Ruben, Maribel, Dariel, Karina, Jesus y Mirta.

No pierdo la esperanza de regresar, y volver a trabajar con los hermanos.

En esta parte de mi reporte, mencionaré de los preparativos para el segundo jueves del debate y del debate mismo.

Con mucho cuidado, Ed, Valente y yo escuchamos los audios donde Ed presenta la negativa de que la mujer predique o enseñe en la asamblea y el audio de Marcelino Matías donde Afirma que la mujer puede predicar o enseñar en la asamblea, ambos expuestos en Mayo 7, 2009.
También analizamos las porciones de la Escritura divina donde habla claramente de la prohibición, especialmente: 1Corintios 14, 1Tim 2 y citas relacionadas. Consideramos algunos consejos y comentarios de hermanos que han estado interesados en este debate y el libro de Matías titulado “Por Favor Quítenme La Mordaza”. Después de considerar con el cuidado necesario todo este material, el hermano Ed preparó una segundo estudio enriquecido y avalado aun por el significado original de las palabras: “hombre” y “mujer”. Preparamos una serie de 25 preguntas bien analizadas y relacionadas con la exposición de Matías.

El Jueves 14 nos dirigimos a la reunión esperada, se esperaba que Marcelino presentara la segunda parte de su doctrina, Ed su segunda parte también y posterior a esto vendría el tiempo de preguntas donde Ed comenzaría a hacerlas y Matías a contestarlas, pero no paso así. Marcelino empezó su segunda presentación según lo acordado pero empezó con un discurso que nada tenia que ver con el punto a tratar. El se concretó a hablar de su trayectoria justificándose a si mismo como un líder de la Iglesia de Cristo (se notó que al referirse a la iglesia no lo hacia en el sentido Bíblico, sino denominacional) Tomando para ello una hora y veinte minutos, después de hablar de su vida y trabajo en Puerto Rico comenzó a hablar de lo que era el punto, en total tomo dos horas y veintiún minutos diciendo al terminar que la siguiente semana seguiría este debate.

Dentro de ese tiempo usado por Matías, Se notó el fastidio de la mayoría de los oyentes, el moderador no hizo nada a pesar de habérsele pedido.
Cuando Matías termino Ed le reclamó y el hombre solo se limito a decir “esto se puede hacer por varios Jueves”.
Considerando que el arreglo dictaba que esto seria de un solo día y habiendo sido flexible de aceptar un segundo día para terminar Ed ya no aceptó otro u otros jueves más. Y así se concluyó con este debate.

Caballerosamente Ed dio gracias a la audiencia a Matías y recalcó la importancia de estudiar la palabra de Dios y de cómo Matías después de tanto hablar nunca presentó un solo ejemplo de una mujer predicando o enseñando en la asamblea.
En la opinión de Valente Rodríguez y un servidor, Ed hizo un excelente trabajo y dejó abiertas las puertas a otros debates posteriores. En los cuales se aseguraría un respeto a las reglas de debate ya que este no fue así por Matías.

Dear brethren the love of God be with you:
Thanks for all your prayers and your participation in the work in Puerto Rico.

As you know, I was invited to collaborate in Puerto Rico for the second time. My arriving to the island was good thanks to God; even though I was tired I arrived with a lot of encouragement last Saturday night to San Juan, where Ed Rangel and Carlos Moscoso received me. From the airport we traveled 2 hours through the Moca City, where the center of activities is going to be. There is where the mentioned brothers live and where the church was established last October. I felt the weather more pleasant than last time. Now there’s a fresh wind and it has been raining every day.

Sunday was a day of a great activity, since 7:00 am we traveled to San Juan to be with the church of Caparra where Tol Burk preaches, we congregated there. In this place two churches have their reunion: one is English language speaker and the other is Spanish language speaker. Each one of them has a service of two hours for bible study and worship service. The quantity of people in each group was of 15 and 20 people relatively. There is where I had the opportunity to preach and I exposed the subject: changing rules brings “success” where I emphasized the point of the appearance of success of the false preachers, and how they deal with subjects that the majority of people like, not by the way the bible says but by the way the people like, and that the success that they have is the perdition. The services in there ended at 1:30 pm.
From there we traveled back to Moca where the reunion was going to start at 4:00 arriving just in time to start the services of the church. This church from Moca is composed of 12 people and there are regularly three visitors having a total of fifteen souls. In this occasion it was notorious the absence of the majority of people because since one person came calling himself a brother in Christ started to have relationship with this church the love of the majority of people has changed. However we worship the lord in there also having the opportunity to expose two lectureships related with the spiritual encouragement and the warning about the false gospel.

On Monday we were waiting to receive brother Valente Rodriguez from Houston Texas, who was also invited to help in the work in Puerto Rico and specially to this debate of Ed and Marcelino.

Last Thursday , Ed Rangel had the opportunity to face this false brother. Marcelino Matias is his name he is the preacher from Aguada P.R. he has been working with just converted brethren from Moca, that have been paying attention to Matias because of their innocence. Matias teaches that women can and should preach and lead. Taking advantage of the innocence of the brethren, and the absence of Ed, since he was out preaching in a lectureship couple of months ago, Matias taught them that the women could preach in the church, a teaching that was good for the just converted since they were identified as charismatics in the past. Ed presented with efficacy the truth, denying that the women can and should preach and lead in the church. So Ed presented his negative answer and Marcelino presented his affirmation. (Even though Matias was the one who should started in the debate Ed exposed first)

Have been listening to the expositions of both to do well on the second debate that will be on May 14th in Aguada City.
We have been studying with the members that support Ed, affirming them in the truth about the debate’s topic, and we have been visiting to the other members that didn’t assist on Sunday and they have been bad influenced, without any good result.

Besides this second part of the debate, we will continue studying about the subject and we will try to “rescue” the mislead souls that follow Matias. For this we ask of your prayers. Brethren Rangel, Rodriguez and I will try to talk particularly with this false brother perhaps he will repent and God will forgive him. A great greeting to the church and we will see you soon if God wills.

EN ESPAÑOL MI SEGUNDO VIAJE A PUERTO RICO

Amados hermanos que el amor de Dios sea con ustedes:
Gracias por sus oraciones y su participación del trabajo en Puerto Rico.

Como sabrán, fui invitado a colaborar en Puerto Rico por segunda vez. Mí llegada a la isla, fue bien gracias a Dios, aunque cansado llegué con mucho ánimo el sábado pasado en la noche a San Juan, donde me recibieron los hermanos: Ed. Rangel y Carlos Moscoso. Del aeropuerto viajamos 2 horas hacia la ciudad de Moca, donde seria el centro de actividades. Ahí es donde viven los hermanos mencionados y la iglesia que fue establecida en Octubre pasado. Percibí el clima más agradable que la vez pasada. Ahora hay un viento fresco y ha llovido todos los días.

El domingo fue de gran actividad, desde las 7:00 AM viajamos a San Juan para estar con la iglesia de Caparra donde predica el hermano Tol Burk, ahí nos congregamos. En este lugar tienen su reunión dos iglesias: una de habla ingles y la otra de habla hispana. Cada una de ellas tiene servicio de dos horas para estudio bíblico y para adoración. La cantidad de personas en cada grupo fue de 15 Y 20 personas relativamente. Ahí tuve la oportunidad de predicar exponiendo el tema: Cambiar las reglas trae “éxito” Enfatizando el punto del aparente éxito de los falsos, y de cómo es que tratan con temas que a la mayoría les gusta, no como dice la Biblia sino como quiere el mundo, y que el éxito que se obtiene es la perdición. Los servicios allí, concluyeron a la 1:30 PM. De allí viajamos de regreso a Moca donde la reunión comenzaría a las 4:00 llegando apenas a tiempo para comenzar los servicios de la iglesia. Esta iglesia de Moca es compuesta de 12 personas y regularmente hay 3 visitantes sumando un total de 15 almas. En esta ocasión fue notoria la ausencia de la mayoría y es que desde que uno llamándose hermano empezó a relacionarse con esta iglesia el amor de la mayoría ha cambiado. Como sea ahí adoramos a Dios también teniendo la oportunidad de exponer dos lecciones relacionadas con el ánimo espiritual y la advertencia del peligro de la falsa doctrina.

El lunes estuvimos pendientes de recibir al hermano Valente Rodríguez procedente de Houston Texas, quien también fue invitado a ayudar en la obra de Puerto Rico, y especialmente a este debate de Ed y Marcelino.

El último jueves, Ed Rangel tuvo la oportunidad de enfrentar a este falso hermano. Marcelino Matías es su nombre y él es predicador en Aguada P. R. Este ha estado trabajando encubiertamente con hermanos recién convertidos de Moca, quienes por su inocencia han prestado atención a Matías. Matías enseña que la mujer puede y debe predicar y dirigir en la iglesia. Aprovechando la inocencia de los hermanos, y la ausencia de Ed, ya que este había salido a una serie de predicaciones hace unos meses, Matías les enseño que la mujer podía predicar en la reunión de la iglesia, una enseñanza que fue bien abrazada por los recién convertidos ya que en el pasado se identificaban con los carismáticos. Ed presentó con eficacia la verdad, negando la afirmación de que la mujer puede y debe predicar y dirigir en la iglesia. Así que Ed presentó la negativa y Marcelino presentó su afirmación. (Aunque Matías debería de haber empezado, Ed fue el que expuso primero).

Hemos estado escuchando las exposiciones de ambos para poder hacer de la segunda negativa lo mejor posible, esta tendrá lugar este 14 de Mayo en la ciudad de Aguada también.

Hemos estado estudiados con los miembros que apoyan a Ed, afirmándolos en la verdad sobre el tema, y hemos procurado a los demás miembros los cuales no asistieron el domingo y han sido mal influenciados, sin tener un buen resultado.

Aparte de esta segunda parte del debate, continuaremos estudiando sobre el tema y seguiremos procurando “rescatar” las almas engañadas que siguen a Matías. Por lo cual rogamos de sus oraciones. Los hermanos: Rangel, Rodríguez y yo procuraremos platicar más particularmente con este falso hermano por si quizá se arrepienta y Dios lo perdone. Un saludo a la iglesia y hasta pronto si Dios quiere.
